“Don’t ever think luck happens to other people”

I signed up for a Udacity class on How to Build a Startup led by Steve Blank. He is the author of The Startup Owner’s Manual: The Step-By-Step Guide for Building a Great Company available on Amazon.comThe opening 10 minutes hooked me with his wise words:

Don’t ever think luck happens to other people… understand the distinction between standing there waiting for direction, versus making your own direction by making it happen.

I find myself in this ‘magical spot’ of making my own direction. I’m not waiting for direction, I’m taking it.

I enrolled in his online course and plan to buy his book in order to strengthen my mindset entering an Executive MBA program at Santa Clara University. It should be a welcome break between Statistics summer homework.
