For the past 8 years, a group of Bellarmine friends have gathered to enjoy delicious food and the finest wines. What’s come to be known as the “Godfather Dinner” began in 2005, when 12 friends met for dinner in the Champagne Room of A.P Stump’s Chop House in downtown San Jose. The cost for the evening was 3 bottles of wine!
In 2006, thanks to the Pavicich Family and Chef Jim Stump, those same 12 men shared dinner once again and agreed that the evening’s purpose should go above and beyond fun and fellowship. BCP alumnus, Lou Rosendin ’49 challenged that “we should continue to think of ways to advance Bellarmine.”
So, ever since that fateful night, the ongoing mission has been to sponsor at least TWO Bellarmine student’s tuition each year. This life-changing ideal has inspired others to open up their private cellars and their pocketbooks. Each year, the group has grown to include alumni, parents and friends.
In 2012, 96 men, ranging from the classes of 1949 – 2007, along with parents and friends, enjoyed a great meal and wonderful camaraderie, all the while helping ensure that the equivalent of two students received the tuition help required.
